Akashiya Karukan is a famous confectionery created at the request of Lord Shimadzu Nariakira in 1854. It has a unique aroma of richly flavored yam and a soft texture. The moist, subtle sweetness and simple taste remind us of the heart of Satsuma.

Since its inception in 1897, the traditional and original fish cake manufacturing method has been further enhanced with new originality and ingenuity. Fish are carefully selected to create the unique flavor of Tokunagaya Honten.

Specialized in sweet potato confectionery, the shop’s lineup includes Taihaku, a baked cake made from the 100-year-old sweet potato variety and Haruka and Nanamurasaki, both made from red sweet potato.
